CDR Yamaha Monster Energy’s Jed Beaton will carry measured expectations into the upcoming 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship, marking his first supercross campaign since 2015.

The popular Tasmanian, who just agonisingly missed out on the 2024 Penrite ProMX MX1 title on count-back, has had limited supercross experience over his professional career, with a single SX2 campaign in 2015.

Beaton missed the 2016 season through injury before commencing his international career in 2017, initially in the European Motocross Championship (EMX) and then graduating to the MXGP World Championship where he contested both classes over several years.

The 26-year-old returned to full-time domestic racing in Australia last year, although he sat out the three-round supercross series. The Victorian-based rider is leaving no stone unturned as he plots his return to the discipline, with immediate training and testing underway along with a private supercross track at his disposal.

“Obviously it’s like a new challenge for me, I did one year previously in 2015,” Beaton commented in a video via AUSX. “I’m actually looking forward to the challenge and I actually want to do really well for myself and the team.”

“We should have a pretty good lead-up – I’ve got a [supercross] track built – I’m really looking forward to it and putting in a lot of laps for supercross. For my experience, it’s just to be there at every race and get the most I can out of it.”

The Australian Supercross Championship is due to kick off on 12-13 October in Redcliffe, Queensland, and is set to span five rounds over four locations.
