Honda Racing’s Jake Cannon has been crowned the 2024 Penrite ProMX MX3 champion at Queensland Moto Park’s final round, completing a remarkable comeback after a zero-point score at the opening round of the season.

It was Ky Woods (GasGas Racing Team) who emerged with the overall victory at the season finale, dominating proceedings with a perfect 1-1 scorecard, marking his second clean-sweep of 2024.

Western Australian Deacon Paice (KTM) put on an impressive display to earn second overall with 4-2 race results, while Cannon did what he needed to clinch the title, beating championship rival Koby Hantis (WBR Yamaha) with 5-3 results for third overall.

Kayd Kingsford (WBR Yamaha) was fourth overall on count-back after equalling on points for the day with Cannon, as KTM-mounted Jackson Fuller completed the top five. Cannon finished the season with 325 points to his name, defeating Hantis by a slender nine-point margin while Kingsford secured third.

There was controversy in the MXW category as newly-crowned three-time champion Charli Cannon – who locked up the title in moto one yesterday – was handed a two-position penalty in race two after an alleged rule breach on the starting line.

This allowed Empire Kawasaki’s Taylah McCutcheon to capitalise, earning an emotional overall victory with 3-1 results, as Cannon was credited second on count-back. Husqvarna-mounted Taylor Thompson was third ahead of Madi Simpson (Husqvarna) and Tahlia O’Hare (KTM). Cannon topped the standings with a 25-point margin over Thompson and Danielle McDonald (Yamaha).

The MX65 Futures championship was secured by Blake Bohannon (Yamaha) while the overall was won by Sidney Stephenson (GasGas), as the MXV 30-39 and 40-plus titles went to Luke Reardon (Stark) and Michael Sleeter (Stark) respectively.
