Honda Racing has extended its contract with Kyle Webster in a long-term commitment that will see the current Australian ProMX red plate-holder remain in red through at least the 2027 season.

Webster, 28, already had a deal in place for 2025 despite interest from Europe and has now opted to focus on the domestic series in a high-profile contract extension at the Yarrive Konsky-owned factory Honda organisation.

While the announcement released by Honda Racing this morning has stopped short of outlining the terms of the Western Australian’s extension, it’s believed to be an extraordinary re-signing that could span as far as the next four seasons together. After a four-year stint at Honda’s satellite team between 2016-2019, Webster joined Konsky’s program in 2020 and won the shortened 2021 ProMX MX2 title.

“I have been with Honda for [nine] years and we have achieved some terrific results,” Webster said in the official team announcement. “Yarrive and I have a great relationship, we communicate so well and share the same goals. The bike is great and the team is focused on winning – I appreciate the trust they have in me and it’s mutual.”

This season has seen Webster come of age in the national MX1 series, winning five of the seven rounds to date and carrying a 14-point lead into this weekend’s final round of the 2024 season at Queensland Moto Park. He’s targeting Honda’s first premier class crown since under it went under the management of Konsky.

“I never worry about his commitment to racing, he’s always striving to improve,” Konsky commented. “This season we’ve seen significant maturity in his approach and I believe the upcoming months in America will only further his development. We share a strong, open, and trusting relationship, and I know he holds himself accountable for his performance and results – there’s nothing more I could ask for.”

Webster will travel back to the United States following the QMP finals in order to prepare with the Lawrence brothers to represent Team Australia as its MX2 entry at Matterley Basin’s Motocross of Nations (MXoN) in October. It’s unclear if he will make the opening rounds of Australian Supercross.

Honda also has four-time MX2 champion Wilson Todd under contract for the 2025 season, with the remainder of the team to be confirmed. Todd has been linked to a return to the 250 class – at least for supercross – and potentially next season altogether following an injury-affected first year in MX1.
