Kiwi crowned the 2024 class champion with a round to spare.
Polyflor Honda Racing’s Brodie Connolly has clinched a first-career Australian MX2 championship with a clean-sweep of the MX Farm national.
The Kiwi has been the class of the 250 class in the 2024 Penrite ProMX Championship and continued that dominance in Gympie, going 1-1 for the overall and sealing the title with a round to spare.
Connolly won the round ahead of a resurgent Rhys Budd (Raceline Husqvarna Racing Team), with Alex Larwood (Froth Honda Racing) completing the top three. He edged privateer Jack Kukas (Husqvarna) on countback, while Jack Mather (Raceline Husqvarna Racing Team) was fifth.
Positions six through 10 included Kayden Minear (KTM Racing Team), Noah Ferguson (Boost Mobile Honda Racing), Haruki Yokoyama (Honda), Jayce Cosford (Yamalube Yamaha Racing) and Cambell Williams (MotoGo Yamaha), who qualified second and finished P2 in the opening moto.
Connolly’s advantage in the championship standings following seven rounds sits at an extraordinary 78 points heading into Queensland Moto Park’s final round next weekend, winning six of the seven rounds contested to date to earn Honda Racing’s fourth-consecutive MX2 championship.
