MX1 class newcomer Wilson Todd will return to Penrite ProMX this weekend in Gympie after a severe friction burn left him sidelined for the past four rounds, but he will be back to close out the season at Honda Racing.

Todd will make the final two stops on the 2024 calendar – MX Farm and Queensland Moto Park – after his leg injury sustained in April, which left him hospitalised and having to undergo skin grafts.

“It feels like forever since I last raced,” Todd said in a pre-race preview from the team. “While I’m not race-fit yet, I need to get back to racing to regain my speed and fitness before supercross.”

Following Wonthaggi and Horsham, Todd – a four-time national MX2 champion – had been positioned fifth in what was supposed to be his first full premier class campaign, with his season-high result of fourth coming at the season opener.

Todd was on location at Toowoomba’s sixth round of the season in July, where he hinted he would consider returning after taking delivery of his practice bike to begin training in the lead-up to coming back this Sunday at the penultimate race of the series.
