Finishing 10th overall on debut at Southwick marked an encouraging AMA Pro Motocross Championship debut for Kyle Webster, a result that he will be able to build from at RedBud this weekend.

Webster started the day P10 in qualifying on combined times, but a first turn crash and a later tip-over in moto one saw him have to climb forward to finish 17th.

Moto two was a different story for the Australian national MX1 leader. He started the race just outside the top five and managed to stay there for the entirety of the moto, crossing the line with an impressive P7 result.

“Moto one, I unfortunately went down off the start,” recalled Webster. “Not an ideal way to kick things off… I managed to make my way through again, then had a tip-over about halfway through I think, so I had to pass a whole heap of guys again, which was a bit unfortunate, but I ended up 17th in that one.

“Moto two, I got off to a much better start, I think I came through the first turn sixth or seventh and I just stayed there all the way to the end and finished up seventh, so 10th overall for the day. I’m smoked to be honest with you – halfway through that second race it just hit me like a brick wall. Hopefully next weekend at RedBud we’ll be feeling a little better and more comfortable with things, and we’ll be looking to go again!”

Webster now shifts his focus to RedBud this Saturday, where he’ll look to use the experience gained at Southwick to his advantage with the MobileX-backed Fire Power Honda team.
