Redcliffe will stage an additional round of the 2024 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX), adding a Sunday afternoon fixture to the ‘Double Header’ schedule that will take place across the October 12-13 weekend to open the now five-round season.

It was initially announced as a single-day event, but with the chance of expanding pending ticket sales to the Kayo Stadium event in the Moreton Bay region. A near sell-out on Saturday has led to series organisers adding a second date in the series’ return to Queensland.

“To be close to a complete sell out only two weeks after going on sale is an incredible result,” explained AUSX championship director Kelly Bailey. “We flagged the potential for another round and the demand from fans – people voting with their feet – has unlocked the additional Sunday round which will be a twilight, family-friendly race schedule.

“The way we’ve scheduled it provides the opportunity for fans to extend their weekend in the City of Moreton Bay – our track and operations team will work overnight to deliver a revised track from the Saturday for the Sunday round, and with more championship points on the line, they’ll get double the action with these back-to-back rounds.

“A huge thank you to the fans for supporting the event. Supercross is well and truly alive in Queensland, along with our event partners the City of Moreton Bay and Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism for their behind the scenes promotional support to make this a reality.”

With Redcliffe to play host to rounds one and two of the AUSX championship, Wollongong will become round three on November 2, and South Australia – alongside the Adelaide 500 Supercars finals – has been locked in from November 15-17. A fifth round remains to be announced, expected to be an international-scale event in Melbourne to complete the bolstered series.
