Last year’s SX1 runner-up equipped with KX450 in 2023 series.
Two-time SX1 champion Matt Moss has secured a factory-supported deal for the 2023 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX) after landing a seat with Empire Kawasaki for the upcoming season.
Moss, 35, narrowly missed out on capturing the SX1 title last year, winning two of the four rounds onboard a privateer Yamaha to trail Justin Brayton (Honda Racing) by a single point come season-end.
His move to Empire Kawasaki follows the BBR team benching its Australian Supercross program and he will join returning, Japanese SX2 contender Haruki Yokoyama in the series.
“I am thrilled to be part of Empire Kawasaki for the upcoming Australian SX series,” Moss explained, a decade on from his 2013 and 2014 premier class championships. “After achieving success with Kawasaki, winning the Prince of Paris last year, I eagerly anticipate building on that success with this fantastic brand and team.”
Empire Kawasaki team manager Tyson Cherry added: “I am absolutely thrilled about our signing of Matt Moss for the upcoming supercross series. Empire Kawasaki is returning to the premium SX1 class and it is exciting to collaborate with this awesome athlete – we can’t wait to get started.”
The three-round 2023 Australian Supercross Championship is scheduled to commence at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on 7 October. It’s expected that Moss will continue with ClubMX onboard a YZ450F in the World Supercross Championship (WSX), which is due to be hosted alongside AUSX at the Melbourne finals in late November.
