Adelaide Entertainment Centre will now host the opening round of the 2023 Fox Australian Supercross Championship (AUSX), the series calendar modified and shifted over a month forward to commence on 7 October.

In an initial quick-fire calendar released just last month, all three rounds were to be staged within the span of four weeks, and it was originally Newcastle on 11 November that was due to form round one.

That high-profile McDonald Jones Stadium event in New South Wales will instead become round two, with Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium becoming the AUSX finals on 24 November alongside the Australian round of the World Supercross Championship (WSX) the following evening.

South Australia was previously scheduled to host the third and final round of this year’s AUSX season at the Adelaide Showground in the first weekend of December, which is the event that the Adelaide Entertainment Centre has subsequently since replaced.

According to series rights-holder AME Group, ‘the venue change has been motivated by fan experience’. Traditional indoor-type events have received a mixed reception in the modern era, balancing the enhanced facilities with a compromised track layout within the tight confines of arenas that the sport was largely built upon locally during the ’90s and early 2000s.

This revision in the AUSX calendar will also now see the opener clash with the annual Motocross of Nations (MXoN) in Ernee, France, between 7-8 October, while adding complexities for teams intending to bring in international imports for the three-round series.
