Deal secured for promising talent on world stage in 2023.
Australian MXW champion Charli Cannon has inked a deal to compete on the global stage for 2023 and will contest the Women’s Motocross World Championship (WMX) with the JK Racing Yamaha Team.
Cannon dominated MXW domestically this year, taking every moto victory to stamp her arrival into the senior ranks and convincingly secure the title.
The 17-year-old then made her grand prix debut with JK Racing for the final round of the 2022 WMX championship at Afyonkarahisar, displaying impressive speed and podium potential throughout the event.
After finishing eighth in the first moto in Turkey, Cannon swiftly worked her way into the top three during moto two and fell while challenging for second. She remounted but suffered another fall which broke her collarbone.
Nonetheless, the potential of the young Australian was acknowledged with a full-time opportunity in 2023 internationally, and while it has not yet been announced, it is expected that she will also defend her domestic MXW championship next year with Yamalube Yamaha Racing.
