Detailed: Maxxis MX-IH tyre (Australian spec)
Enduro tyre honed and tested specifically for local terrain.
Developed with extensive feedback from Todd Waters, the new Australian specification Maxxis MX-IH 120/90 – 18 rear enduro tyre is designed specifically for the demands of the local landscape.
The new MX-IH 120/90 -18 enduro tyre was tested and honed on home soil, under the criteria of best racing performance and durability on Australia’s hard, fast and rocky terrain. Essentially, Maxxis combined its lightweight MX-IH motocross tyre with a strong carcass construction and durable rubber compound for both on and off-road use.
It was used by Waters at the 2022 Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE), with the Husqvarna rider claiming second overall in E2 and Outright honours on the final day.
Throughout the new MX-IH 120/90 -18’s development process, special attention was paid to acceleration on blue groove terrain, predictability when attacking rock gardens and while braking. Also, equal performance was achieved with mousse or tube.
The tyre features a pliable sidewall – with a special Australian marking visible – that acts like dampening, which provides predictable handling through rock gardens and a planted feeling under heavy braking where you need the tyre to flatten out. A new rubber compound and wide tread pattern works together to provide great straight-line traction and long wear life over high-speed trails.
All this combined, results in a lightweight off-road tyre that accelerates hard out of turns, is very predictable under braking, hooks up in hard/dusty conditions and holds up in hard rocky terrain.
