A convincing start to Aaron Tanti’s CDR Yamaha Monster Energy campaign in Penrite ProMX saw him finish second overall at Wonthaggi’s opener, swiftly coming to grips with the YZ450F.

Tanti showed good pace from the onset, qualifying P2 then translating that to a rostrum finish as he crossed the line in third after a consistent ride in the first moto.

Moto two saw the number nine deliver another podium result, sitting in second for the first nine laps before being passed by teammate Luke Clout. Tanti was able to capitalise on Kyle Webster’s mistake late in the race to move back into second, where he finished the race.

“I’m pretty happy with how the weekend played out and the way I rode,” Tanti explained. “The start of any new championship is a little nerve-racking and the goal is always to get some good points, stay healthy and get back into the swing of national race intensity.”

Soft surfaces admittedly have not been Tanti’s strongest suit, however, his outlook toward riding in the sand is positive after the weekend.

“The next few tracks and a bit more in my wheel-house as far as the track surface, but I’m beginning to like this sand stuff and slowly working things out to produce good lap times,” Tanti added.

“The bike was awesome all day and we barely touched it, so the team have done a great job in preparing things and a 1-2 finish is always a great reward for everyone’s work.”

Following a perfect 1-2 for the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy team at round one, Tanti sits eight points behind Clout as the series heads to Mackay for round two on 10 April.
