GasGas has named Korey McMahon to lead its enduro program for 2022, set to challenge for the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) and Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE) together.

McMahon won the AORC EJ category in 2020, then raced as a GasGas-supported rider as he stepped up to the senior ranks in 2021. He impressed at Golden Beach’s rounds in Victoria last season on debut in E2, claiming a pair of sixth-place finishes in class.

Now, with added GASGAS resources at his disposal and the promise of a full year of off-road racing ahead, the 20-year-old has his sights set on consistent podium results in the E1 division riding a GasGas EC 250F.

“This is my second year with GasGas and it’s exciting to now have that added level of support – it’s a great opportunity to be 100 percent committed to racing dirt bikes,” McMahon said. “Now that I know what to expect and have become a full-time racer, I can focus solely on becoming the best I can be, rather than having to balance my racing with full-time work.

“Testing has been going well so far and every time we go out on the bike I feel like we take another big step forward. I’m super-excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to get out there for a full season of racing.”

KTM Group Australia motorsport manager Kyle Blunden added: “2021 was a positive season for GasGas in many aspects and we are excited to assist Korey in order to continue this momentum through 2022. Korey is a very exciting young rider with a huge amount of talent on a motorcycle, he’s proven himself as a threat when competing across many disciplines and is excited at the prospect of representing GASGAS in the E1 class.”
