First round of the 2022 season now scheduled for next weekend.
The opening round of the 2022 MXGP World Championship scheduled for Matterley Basin this Sunday has been delayed, now due to commence next weekend.
Infront Moto Racing confirmed the news this morning ahead of the British GP, that decision made in accordance with the FIM and local organiser.
It comes as a result of severe weather on-site from Storm Eunice, with a government warning issued due to the strong wind gusts experienced yesterday and forecasted to continue throughout the weekend. The decision to resume next weekend was made on safety grounds.
“Infront Moto Racing, FIM and local organiser have decided to postpone the event on to next weekend,” a statement announced. “The main concern of Infront Moto Racing and all involved parties is health and safety of anyone attending the event be them public, riders, teams, workers and members of the industry.”
The MXGP of Great Britain is being rescheduled to the following weekend, with the event going ahead on 26-27 February. Any tickets bought for this weekend will be valid for the alternative date.
