Nowra events in New South Wales now also 'under review'.
Rounds five and six of the 2021 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) have been postponed, the latest to be affected by ongoing Covid-19 outbreaks.
While replacement dates are yet to be finalised, Motorcycling Australia (MA) is currently assessing an appropriate timeframe for the Queensland rounds to go ahead.
“Ongoing government border restrictions and health risks make it impossible to conduct the inaugural AORC and ProMX combined weekend in Queensland on 6-8 August,” a statement from MA announced.
“New dates for QMP event are now under review, with Motorcycling Australia committed to ensuring the championship can continue and conclude with the maximum rounds in 2021.”
It was also revealed today that rounds seven and eight in Nowra, NSW, scheduled for 28-29 August are now under review due to the extended lockdown in Greater Sydney and surrounding areas, with more updates to be provided in the coming weeks.
QMP’s postponement marks the third and fourth rounds of the 2021 season to be pushed back, with Kyogle also recently delayed. A rescheduled date for the Kyogle events is ‘to be announced in the coming week’, according to MA.
