Bike It MTX Kawasaki rider earns career-best result in Great Britain.
Eighth overall at the MXGP of Great Britain marked a step forward for Wilson Todd, the Australian continuing to build after undergoing arm-pump surgery in the lead-up to the series commencing.
Matterley Basin’s second round of the MXGP World Championship saw the Bike It MTX Kawasaki rider put in a consistent showing, notching up 10-11 race results to be granted eighth overall in MX2 – a career-best result following an injury-impacted rookie campaign last year.
“A solid weekend, [I’m] improving more and more each week,” Todd explained. “My fitness is coming back along with some speed. I can’t complain about 10-11 for eighth overall – nice and consistent and I was riding in my comfort zone.”
Bike It MTX Kawasaki team manager Steve Dixon commented on Todd’s performance, stating he looked at home battling towards the top 10 in what was a home grand prix for the team.
“With Wilson still regaining fitness after his arm pump surgery, and Taylor still nursing a finger injury, they both gave solid performances,” Dixon said. “They looked at home in the positions they finished.
“We have a lot more to come from the bike and from the rider’s race fitness, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the season progresses. It’s important to be finishing every race throughout the season and gaining points no matter how small they are. Hopefully, we can get some more solid rides in Maggiora.”
The MXGP World Championship now heads to Maggiora in Italy on 4 July, marking round three of the series.
