Championship favourites set scorching pace at the third round of the Australian ProMX Championship
Luke Clout and Kyle Webster have set the early pace in qualifying at the third round of the 2021 Penrite ProMX Championship at Maitland, NSW.
CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Racing’s Luke Clout set the fastest qualifying time, with a searing 1m47.885s lap time, a comfortable 0.8 seconds ahead of Honda Racing Team racer Kirk Gibbs and defending champion Todd Waters (Husqvarna Racing Team).
Matt Moss (Yamaha) and Aaron Tanti (GasGas Racing Team) completed the top five.
Current points leader Regan Duffy (KTM Racing Team) finished sixth-fastest, ahead of CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Racing’s Hayden Mellross, Maximus Purvis (WBR Yamaha Bulk Nutrients Racing), Brett Metcalfe (Honda Racing Team) and Lochie Latimer (Yamaha).
Current 2021 MX2 points leader Kyle Webster set a scorching pace in qualifying, with the Honda Racing Team rider being the only racer to break into the 1m50s times.
His 1m50.793s lap was almost a half second faster than Serco Yamaha racer Jesse Dobson, who led a string of Yamahas across the line.
Behind Dobson were Yamalube Yamaha Racing’s Rhys Budd and Serco Yamaha’s Nathan Crawford. Jay Wilson (Yamalube Yamaha Racing) qualified fifth, ahead of Noah Ferguson (GasGas).
Positions seventh to 10th were filled by Dylan Wills (Husqvarna), Hugh McKay (Yamaha), Jayce Cosford (Yamaha) and Jy Roberts KTM).
