The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider reveals list of injuries.
RJ Hampshire has undergone surgery to fix ligaments in his arm following a crash at Houston 3, effectively ending his 250SX East title chances.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider crashed during the first qualifying session at the third round in Houston resulting in a dislocation and fractures in his right wrist. While his wrist was reset Saturday, the ligament damage caused in the crash required surgery.
The 25-year-old is on the road to recovery, but it’s currently unclear when he will return to competition.
“Saturday I had a crash in free practice which resulted in a perilunate dislocation to my right wrist, chipped my ulna and fractured a metacarpal in my left hand,” he said. “They reset my wrist in the hospital Saturday but had surgery Wednesday to repair the ligaments. Obviously it’s devastating. I’m disappointed in Myself and for the people that support me.”
“All there’s to do is continue to be the best person I can be on and off the bike, pick myself up and move on. I have a lot left and will work on being better. I appreciate the support and looking forward to a better comeback!”
At the moment there are no plans announced for a fill in rider for Hampshire and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna squad will continue with 450 riders Dean Wilson, Zach Osborne and Jason Anderson this weekend in Indianapolis.
