Osby shines with podium for Raceline KTM Thor at Gillman

Raceline KTM Thor press release:

Raceline KTM Thor shine in Adelaide at the Gillman Speedway for round two of the 2019 Australian Supercross Series, as Josh Osby podiums in Second place and Regan Duffy charges through to sixth position.

The Gillman Speedway, located in the outer suburbs of Port Adelaide, played host to the second round of the series and provided the riders with an incredibly challenging and technical world class Supercross track.

From the first laps on the Gillman track it was clear that Josh Osby’s experience on the AMA Supercross series tour in the USA would pay dividends to his performance on the day, as Osby was the first to jump many obstacles and tricky rhythm lanes whilst blitzing the whoops, qualifying out of the days timed sessions in fourth position. Supercross rookie Regan Duffy would again impress with his ability to learn a new track quickly in just his second event, qualifying in tenth position in a massive improvement from round one last weekend.

Heat race one would see both Raceline KTM Thor riders on the gate looking to qualify for the main event. Josh Osby rocketed out of the gate with a clean hole shot, leading every lap of the six lap heat race in a dominant show of speed heading into the main event with the all important first gate pick. Regan Duffy’s ability to learn and progress quickly in a race environment continues to impress as he rode to fourth position in the heat race, qualifying directly to the main event, showing more speed and experience with every lap on the track.

For the Main Event, Josh Osby launched another top three start and would battle early with Mitchell Oldenberg, Wilson Todd and Jacob Hayes out front as the leaders set a frantic pace early in the fifteen lap race. Osby, after briefly leading the race, would survive the carnage that ensued around him with multiple riders in the lead pack having major incidents, finding himself in a solid second position within a few bike lengths of race leader Mitchell Oldenberg. At the mid way point, a small line change in the sand section would cost Osby, as he washed the front end. Dropping back to third position, Osby would stop at nothing to regain his second place by charging all the way to the chequered flag passing Aaron Tanti with just two corners to go to secure the position.

“ Second place on the night is a great result, I wish we could have challenged for the win down the stretch as I feel I had the speed tonight, but I’ll take a podium with a small mistake and how broken down the track turned out during the final. I’m looking forward to a few weeks off racing to work with the team and really come out swinging for round three at Wollongong”, said Osby.

Regan Duffy’s Main Event was nothing short of incredible as the seventeen year old Supercross Rookie would charge from a mid pack start outside of the top ten, all the way through to sixth place. Passing riders throughout the beginning of the race, Duffy would show great race craft executing block passes and finding his flow on the very challenging Gillman circuit.

“I’m really happy with sixth place tonight. After getting boxed out in the first turn I put my head down and kept charging. When Chris Close came by me I used it as an opportunity to learn from him and we worked our way to the front of the field. I’m enjoying the process of learning Supercross, I’ll be going home now to work on a few things and can’t wait for round three at Wollongong in a few weeks time”, said Duffy.

The Raceline KTM Thor team will take the next few weeks to test and work with riders Josh Osby and Regan Duffy before round three of the 2019 Australian Supercross series, taking place at Wollongong’s WIN stadium on Saturday November 9th.
