Former AMA supercross and motocross rider to remain in rally racing next year.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing has extended its deal with former AMA supercross and motocross regular Andrew Short for the 2020 Dakar Rally and FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship.
Short had made huge advances in his second Dakar appearance this year, ultimately finishing fifth overall at the end of the 10-day event, while the 36-year-old recently finished runner-up in the Silk Way Rally – his first podium in rally racing.
“I’m excited to be with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team for another year,” said Short. “It takes time to get to the point where you understand rally and can ride competitively, but I believe I am at that stage now.
“There is always more to learn, but with the Dakar moving to Saudi Arabia it will be a new experience for everyone and I’m hoping that will be in my favour and help me continue to progress.
“I’m really happy to be part of the team and I think it gives me the very best opportunity. To be successful in rally, you need the very best crew behind you, and I have exactly that right now. I’m looking forward to what 2020 brings.”
The American is currently ranked second in the 2019 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship as two rounds remain.
