DPH Motorsport press release:
Leading both the MX1 (450cc) and MX2 (250cc) motocross championships, DPH Motorsport Husqvarna Factory Racing will arrive in Maitland, New South Wales this weekend, for the seventh round of the MX Nationals with the FC450 of Todd Waters, and FC250 of Wilson Todd both carrying red number plates, signifying their position at the top of the championship standings.
Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “With four rounds of racing left in the championship, there are still a lot of points up for grabs, but both Wilson (Todd) and Todd (Waters) are comfortable in their positions at the top. The MX1 class is especially close at the moment, but we have some momentum and all three riders have a lot of confidence. Boyd has been doing a great job behind the scenes and we’re ready to put in another strong performance this weekend.”
Todd Waters, MX1 – FC450: “For some people, leading the championship and having the red plate adds some pressure, but for me it really makes no difference. It’s great to have the lead, but it’s still close, so my plan doesn’t change, I want to win races. I’ve actually been riding an FE501 for some different training recently and it’s given me a few ideas to work on with Marty from Krooztune. I’ve only really done one day of testing on my race bike and I’ve been so happy with it that we’ve left it alone, but I think now, we’ve taken some more steps in the right direction.”
Wilson Todd, MX2 – FC250: “This weekend will be interesting. Maitland is a different style of track compared to where we’ve raced recently. It’s a pretty flat layout with a concrete start and long start straight into a sharp left corner, so it’s going to be important to get there first as it tightens up. My lead in the championship is 24 points right now, so I’m in a good position, but with four rounds of racing left in the championship, anything can happen, so I’m as motivated as ever to take race wins.”
Bailey Malkiewicz, MX2 – FC250: “After a bad round at Gympie, I’ve gone back to the test track and really focused on what I was slacking on through the week and I believe that I have not only fixed those issues but excelled in those areas, so I’m coming into this weekend expecting high things from myself”
