DPH Motorsport press release:
With five rounds of racing done, the second half of the 2019 MX Nationals season goes into overdrive, with five rounds across just six weeks. Choosing to continue racing in the off-season, Wilson Todd (currently leading MX2), and Todd Waters (currently third in MX1) both contested the opening rounds of the AMA Motocross in the USA, while Bailey Malkiewicz chose to knuckle down on his training program both in Australia, and in the US, in preparation to battle it out against Australia’s best motocross racers in this weekend’s sixth round of the championship in Gympie, QLD.
Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “We can’t wait to go racing this weekend! I want to thank Boyd (Hocking) for stepping up to the plate once again to ensure that we’re ready to race this weekend and give the team the best chance to perform in the second half of the season. After being a part of the DPH family for many years, Jarred (Pyne) has decided to move on and so we wish him well in his future endeavors. All three racers have been doing a fantastic job through the first five rounds and have all used the mid-season break to set themselves up to be strong in the second half of the season. Gympie is somewhat of a clean slate, with no-one having raced it before, so we’re looking forward to seeing some great racing.”
Todd Waters, MX1 – FC450: “My USA trip really was unbelievable. It’s extremely rare to be able to spend 3 weeks living in a RV with your family and racing professional motocross on the opposite side of the world. It really has been a dream come true! My FC450 didn’t miss a beat, and although I’m always working to move forward and improve, I’m happy that I got to show that I have the pace to run with the best in the world, and even better, we did it as a family on a shoe-string budget. Heading into round six, my confidence is high, and I know that I can put the DPH Husqvarna at the front of field.”
Wilson Todd, MX2 – FC250: “What a season break! Thanks to some of our team partners, I was able to get a last-minute ride in the US and that really keep my momentum going from the first half of the season. Now I’m back, and turning my attention straight back to racing the FC250 this weekend. I feel good, and I feel fast. I really love racing my bike and just want to get back on the DPH Husqvarna and get to work.”
Bailey Malkiewicz, MX2 – FC250: “I’ve had a really good break from racing, with plenty of bike-time both here and in the US and it’s really made me hungry to race. My season’s been getting stronger and stronger, and I’m confident that I’ll be able to keep going in that direction. I’m eighth right now, only 14 points away from fourth place, so that’s the next goal for sure.”
