DPH Motorsport press release:
The DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing team contested the second round of the Australian Supercross Championship on Saturday afternoon with both Hayden Mellross and Dylan Wills racing their FC250s to fourth and 13th in the 15-lap final.
Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “It was a promising start to the day with both guys doing well in heat races and looking solid for the SX2 main. Come the race though, Dylan got caught up with Taft and was in a tough position, but did a great job to move from 20th to 13th in the 15-lap race. Hayden is showing both his speed and determination. With his toes far from healed, he still managed to hold the lead, reel off the fastest lap of the race and it was just a small mistake that put him back down the order. Geelong is a home round for DPH, so we’re looking forward to strong results in front of a home crowd.”
Hayden Mellross: “I only rode my FC250 twice between round one and two, so to move forward to second in the championship is a good result all things considered. The reality though is that I’m a racer and I want to win. The team and all our supporters have given me the package, and it showed – leading for the first seven laps – but a small mistake saw me in fourth and I wasn’t able to regain the positions. The good news is that I’m back riding and believe I can be on top.”
Dylan Wills: “Another weekend that should have been for me. I had someone else’s front wheel stuck in my bike in the first turn after I got off the line well, letting the entire field get away. I rode hard to move from last back to 13th, but I just didn’t have enough laps to keep moving forward in the end. I want to thank Pynee, my mechanic, and everyone at DPH for being behind me. I’m disappointed my results don’t show my speed my right now, but I’m motivated to turn things around..”
The DPH Motorsport Husqvarna Factory Racing Team head home to Melbourne before arriving in Geelong next Friday for the third round of the championship in GMHBA Stadium.
