Bailey Malkiewicz (Bulk Nutrients WBR Yamaha) and Riley Dukes (Husqvarna) have traded overall victories in Ranch MX’s seventh and eighth rounds of the Pirelli MX Nationals this weekend at Raymond Terrace in New South Wales.

Malkiewicz proved to be unstoppable in the seventh round, adding a victory this morning to his P1 from yesterday, granting him the top spot and the points lead.

Dukes’ 4-3 scorecard positioned him in second, equalling on points with New South Welshman Rhys Budd (Ride Red Honda), who was credited third on countback. The top five was rounded out by Hugh McKay (Bulk Nutrients WBR Yamaha) and Jye Dickson (KTM).

Back-to-back six-lap sprints was the format for this afternoon’s eighth round, which was ultimately taken out by Dukes with an ever-consistent 2-2 results sheet. It was enough to comfortably beat home Dickson and Jayce Cosford (Yamaha), who collected victory in the first six-lap affair. Final moto victor Malkiewicz was fourth ahead of Yamaha-mounted Brodie Ellis.

Ryan Butler and Cameron Taylor shared victories in the 125cc Gold Cup, as Geoff Braico collected a pair of runner-up finishes. Taylor was third overall in the seventh round, as Butler collected the final spot on the podium in round eight.

The inaugural Yamaha 65cc Cup saw Michael Jones storm to victory with two race wins to his credit, defeating race two victor Wil Carpenter and Hixson McInnes for the top spot on the podium.

The MX Nationals returns to action on 5 August at Gladstone in Queensland, marking the penultimate round of the series.
