Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin has acquired the points lead in a dramatic seventh round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at RedBud.

The Frenchman lodged a 2-1 scorecard which granted him the overall, allowing him to capitalise on former point leader Eli Tomac’s (Monster Energy Kawasaki) disastrous weekend, who recorded a DNF in race one with a mechanical failure, while the second outing saw him muster up 12th after recovering from a crash.

Runner-up in the premier class was Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) with a race win to his name – his first since returning from injury – as Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing) earned another podium in third. Closing out the top five was Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain ATV/MC) and Phil Nicoletti (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing).

In the 250MX category, championship leader Aaron Plessinger (Monster Energy Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha) strengthened his points advantage with a stunning 1-1 performance, comfortably defeating Alex Martin (Red Bull TLD KTM) and Dylan Ferrandis (Monster Energy Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha), who were second and third respectively after tying on points.

The top five was closed out by Shane McElrath (Red Bull TLD KTM) and Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha), while Australian Hayden Mellross (CycleTrader Rock River Yamaha) was 19th overall after putting together 18-15 moto scores.

The Pro Motocross championship now heads to Spring Creek in Millville on 21 July.
