Ferrandis earns career-first 250MX victory as Mellross winds up 17th.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin has put a stop to red-plate holder Eli Tomac’s (Monster Energy Kawasaki) dominant run in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, securing a breakthrough victory at Southwick’s sixth round of the series.
The duo tied on 47 points for the weekend, trading 1-2 race finishes over the two motos, however it was Musquin who was credited the overall after claiming the win in the final outing of the day.
Monster Energy Yamaha’s Justin Barcia continued to with yet another consistent performance, closing out the podium in third with a pair of third place race results.
Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM) wound up fourth for the round, four points clear of two-time Pro Motocross champion Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) in fifth.
In the 250MX category, Monster Energy Yamalube Star Yamaha’s Dylan Ferrandis charged to a career-first victory, posting 4-1 race results to edge out Alex Martin (TLD Red Bull KTM) for the top spot.
Fellow TLD Red Bull KTM rider Shane McElrath went 6-2 for third overall, while RJ Hampshire (Geico Honda) and points leader Aaron PLessinger (Monster Energy Yamalube Star Yamaha) completed the top five. Australian Hayden Mellross (CycleTrader Rock River Yamaha) was 17th overall with a pair 16th place finishes.
The Pro Motocross championship will now head to Redbud on 7 July, marking the seventh stop of the prestigious championship.
