Penrite Honda Racing has confirmed two-time Australian supercross champion Justin Brayton will return to the country to defend his crown in the 2018 series.

Brayton, who has already been announced as a contender for the Monster Energy AUS-X Open in Sydney, will attempt to earn a third-consecutive SX1 title following his most successful season in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.

“I look forward to coming back for the 2018 SX season,” Brayton commented. “Australia feels like my second home, since 2016 I have spent nearly as much time in Australia as I have in my home in Charlotte as the American championship is relentless – we are travelling to 16 rounds across 17 weekends, so it’s quite full-on.”

Piloting a CRF450R for Smartop Bullfrog Spas Honda in his American campaign, Brayton recorded his first main event victory at Daytona this year before concluding the championship in fifth – something he believes his time in Australia played a benefecial role in the overall ranking.

“I 100 percent believe that racing in Australia gave me the kick-start I needed to be ready for the world supercross championship in America,” he continued. ” We were able to prepare in race conditions – the emulation is priceless and I am thankful that all parties came together to make it seamless.”

It is understood that the Penrite Honda Racing outfit will roll out a number of partnerships and activations ahead of the series, which is scheduled to commence on 15 September at Jimboomba in Queensland.
