MX1 rookie impresses in opening half of the Australian motocross championship.
Raceline Pirelli KTM’s Mitch Evans is satisfied to be entering the extended break of the Pirelli MX Nationals third in the premier class standings following a stellar opening half to his rookie campaign in the MX1 category.
In the first five rounds, the Queenslander has found himself on the podium three times, setting a new standard for the youthful talent while making him discontent with eighth overall at Murray Bridge last weekend.
“It wasn’t a bad weekend,” Evans stated. “We definitely could have been better but we made sure that we got some points and finished the first half of the season safe and healthy.
“After the double podium at Wonthaggi, eighth overall is not where I want to be finishing, but we will keep working and stick to our program for the second half of the season.
“At the moment I’m sitting third in the championship which is a good spot to be at the half-way point in my rookie season. We are on track in terms of the goals we have set for this year so I’m looking forward to being even better once we get back to racing in July.”
The number 43 sits on 275 points, just 11 markers shy of KTM Motocross Racing Team rider and former MX1 champion Kirk Gibbs, who holds down second in the standings.
