CDR Yamaha ace solely focused on securing third premier class crown.
Two-time Australian motocross champion Dean Ferris has declared the thought of a perfect hasn’t even crossed his mind in the 2018 Pirelli MX Nationals as the series approaches the halfway mark.
The CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team rider has remained undefeated this season, notching up eight commanding race victories from as many motos, granting him a healthy 58-point advantage in the premier class standings.
“I haven’t even thought about that,” Ferris replied when asked about his thoughts on a perfect season. “I’m just always focused on what’s in front of me at the time.
“Like right now, I’m just focused on my next training session and I’ll worry about the racing on the weekend. It’s one step at a time and there’s still a long way to go in the championship. But, it’s all going well, so we’ll keep doing what we’re doing.”
Last weekend’s double-header round of the MX Nationals in Wonthaggi, Victoria, marked one of the most challenging stops of the championship so far, although it only played into Ferris’ favour as he demonstrated why he’s captured the prestigious crown two times over.
The popular Murray Bridge circuit in South Australia will host round five of the series this Sunday, a venue which the number one was triumphant at in 2017.
