Australia's Phillips pushes through tough weekend for 10-15 scorecard.
Husqvarna-mounted Alex Salvini has dominated Portugal’s third stop of Maxxis EnduroGP World Championship, securing two outright victories in the combined EnduroGP class.
Saturday’s opening day saw Salvini beat home Jamie McAnney (Outsiders Yamaha Racing) and Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas Factory Team), while Australian Matthew Phillips (CH Racing Sherco) wound up in 10th position.
Nambotin was credited the top spot in E3 ahead of Steve Holcombe (Team Beta Factory Racing) and Daniel McAnney (Gas Gas Factory Racing), while in E2 it was Salvini, Mathias Bellino (Honda Control Tech) and Loic Larrieu (Outsiders Yamaha Racing) who completed the top three. Phillips earned fifth in the division to commence the weekend. Jamie McAnney reigned supreme in E1, narrowly edging out Bradley Freeman (Beta) and Antoine Basset (Gas Gas Factory Racing).
Sunday’s EnduroGP standings were once again topped by Salvini, this time besting Holcombe and Nambotin for the top spot. Phillips was 15th in the overall times at the conclusion of day two. Holcombe graduated to first in E3 ahead of Nambotin, as Daniel McAnney accepted third for the second day running.
Topping E2 was Salvini followed by Eero Remes (TM Factory Racing) and Larrieu, although on this occasion Phillips would muster up a seventh place finish in what was a difficult weekend. Freeman charged to first in E1 to complete the round in front of Jamie McAnney and Basset.
The next stop on the EnduroGP World Championship calendar is scheduled for 1-3 June in Tallinn, Estonia.
