Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson has captured his first-career Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in Las Vegas finals, sealing the 2018 crown with a fifth-place finish.

Anderson entered the final round with a 14-point advantage and requiring 10th position or better to wrap up the title, which he did in a measured performance.

It was Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac who led the race from the front to take the final main event of the season, fending off title-challenger Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM), as Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM) completed the podium.

Fourth was a strong result for Team Honda HRC replacement Christian Craig, however directly behind him it was all eyes on Anderson, adding the 450SX crown to the West Coast 250SX championship he won in 2014.

Australia’s Chad Reed (Team CR22 Husqvarna) completed his campaign with an 11th-place finish at Sam Boyd Stadium, placing him 13th in the final standings after pressing through injuries sustained at the end of last year.

In the 250SX Showdown it was Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) won took the chequered flag, winning ahead of Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM duo Jordan Smith and Shane McElrath.

Behind them, in seventh and eighth places respectively, defending East Coast 250SX champion Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and West Coast 250SX leader Aaron Plessinger (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) won their regional championships.

51Fifty Energy Drink Yamaha’s Hayden Mellross had a positive finish to his supercross season, finishing 10th in the combined East/West 250SX final and securing that same position in the West Coast 250SX standings.
