Western Australian Duffy reigns supreme in Rising Stars Rookie category.
Riley Dukes has entered the winners circle for the first time in the 2018 Pirelli MX Nationals MXD championship, claiming the overall victory at Appin’s second round of the series today.
In race one, WBR Bulk Nutrients Yamaha’s Hugh McKay raced to a 3.224s victory in the hotly contested field, defeating Husqvarna-mounted Dukes and Penrite Honda Racing’s Callum Norton.
Brodie Ellis (Yamaha) fell just shy of the podium by 0.637s, while Victorian Morgan Fogarty (KTM) completed the five a further six seconds behind.
The second outing was all about Fogarty, who stormed to a respectable win in front of the New South Wales crowd. He defeated Dukes and Rhys Budd (Ride Red Honda) on the deteriorated circuit, who wound up second and third respectively.
WBR Bulk Nutrients Yamaha’s Bailey Malkiewicz was fourth followed by Mckay after a fierce battle in the 20-minute affair, while overall it was Fogarty and McKay who completed the podium, as Dukes controls the standings by a mere three points.
In the Rising Star Rookie class, Western Australian talent Regan Duffy (KTM) who claimed two convincing race victories to ultimately be credited the overall winner ahead of Dante Hyam (Honda) and Blake Fox (KTM). Korey McMahon (KTM) piloted himself to fourth, as it was Jai Walker (Husqvarna) who concluded the top five.
The MX Nationals will now head into its first double-header of the season on 19-20 May at Wonthaggi in Victoria, marking rounds three and four of the series.
