Tomac clinches Triple Crown title with Minneapolis win
Martin makes it another overall victory in 250SX East.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has taken out the 2018 Monster Energy Triple Crown within the Minneapolis round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
Tomac won the first of three finals in round 14 of the season, before going 4-3 to clinch the 450SX main event win and inaugural Triple Crown title.
A 2-6-1 scorecard saw points leader Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) finish runner-up tonight, while Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) made it three different race winners in Minnesota by going 7-1-2. The top five was completed by Justin Brayton (Smartop Bullfrog Spas Honda) and the returning Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Yamaha).
Australia’s Chad Reed (Team CR22 Husqvarna) was 13th overall at night’s end, as his best race result of the night came in the third and final outing with a ninth-place result.
In the 250SX East main there were also three different final winners, but it was Jeremy Martin (Geico Honda) who went 3-3-1 for the top step of the podium.
Behind Martin was reigning champion and current series leader Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) in second with 4-1-2 finishes and Jordon Smith (Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM) rounded out the podium. The opening final was won by Austin Forkner (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki).
The 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship will continue with round 15 of the season at Foxborough next Saturday, 21 April.
