Tomac charges to convincing main event victory in St. Louis
Osborne claims second 250SX win of the season to strengthen points lead.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac claimed his fifth main victory of the season over the weekend at the 11th stop of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, a FIM World Championship, in St. Louis.
The number three dominated the 26-lap main, leading every single lap to cross the line a staggering 20.721s ahead of eventual runner-up Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing).
Closing out the podium was Frenchman Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), who maintained a comfortable position in third to beat home previous main event victor Justin Brayton (Smartop Bullfrog Spas Honda).
Autotrader JGR Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s Weston Peick rounded out the top five, while Australia’s Chad Reed (Team CR22 Husqvarna) suffered his own issues to ultimately record a DNF result.
In the 250SX East division, defending title holder Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) extended his points lead with a slender win over Geico Honda’s Jeremy Martin.
Jordon Smith (Red Bull TLD KTM) and Kyle Peters (Autotrader JGR Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing) were credited positions three and four respectively, while Austin Forkner (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki), who led the first half of the main until getting tangled with a lapper, was able to salvage fifth for the night.
The prestigious championship will now head to Lucas Oil Stadium this weekend in Indianapolis for the 12th round of the series.
