Anderson tops second Triple Crown event in Atlanta
Forkner goes back-to-back in 250SX East following action-filled round.
A consistent effort from Jason Anderson saw him extend his 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross advantage in Atlanta, winning the second Triple Crown event of the season on Saturday night.
Anderson went 2-1-4 for the overall to edge third final winner Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) and Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki) to victory, increasing his points lead to 42.
The opening final of the night was won by Australian champion Justin Brayton (Smartop Bullfrog Spas Honda) on his way to fourth overall, while Christian Craig (Team Honda HRC) led a number of laps to take fifth overall. Australia’s Chad Reed (Team CR22 Husqvarna) had his best result, going 7-15-9 for 10th overall.
It was Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner who stood atop the 250SX East podium for the second week in a row, despite being winless on the night with 4-2-3 finishes. He led final one winner Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and Jordon Smith (Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM).
Final two was taken out by Martin Davalos (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki), with the third final win belonging to Jeremy Martin (Geico Honda). Osborne still leads the championship following the opening three rounds on the east, now two points ahead of Forkner.
Monster Energy AMA Supercross will continue this Saturday night when the championship reaches Daytona International Speedway for round 10 of the series.
