Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has taken his fourth win of the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship in Tampa, Florida.

It was Cooper Webb (Monster Energy Yamaha) who led the opening lap, before Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM) made his way into the lead and would remain there for the next 12 laps.

However the second half of the main event saw Tomac take charge, leading the final 13 laps to claim victory and climb to seventh in the standings as a result. He topped Musquin and points-leader Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna).

Fourth went to Webb at race’s end, while Broc Tickle (Red Bull KTM) filled the top five. 450SX first-timer Justin Hill (Autotrader Yoshimura Suzuki) starred on his way to sixth, challenging at the front but going down when attempting to make a move on Musquin for the lead.

It was a memorable night for Australian great Chad Reed (Team CR22 Husqvarna), if not for his non-finish in the main event, but for the fact that he’s now got the most starts in history at 228, eclipsing Mike LaRocco for that feat in a US career that began back in 2002.

The 250SX East final was captured by Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner, leading all but one lap for his first-career victory. He won ahead of Dylan Ferrandis (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) – who tried to make a late pass – while defending champion Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) maintained his points lead in P3.

Next Saturday, 3 March, sees the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship host round nine in Atlanta, Georgia, marking the halfway point of the season.
