MotoOnline.com.au puts the 2018 Fox 360 offering to the test.
Words: Adam Spence
Fox has long been known for producing quality and high performance motocross gear, as a household name within the sport. Recently we were provided with a set of 2018 Fox 360 Preme racwear in the purple colour option, which we think looks pretty rad, and to match up with the combo, we were also provided a pair of Pawtector gloves.
Fox’s 360 line has been a staple within the brand’s range for many years and it received a complete overhaul two years ago. Featuring a newly-designed chassis throughout and with a host of the most high-end features available included, it was definitely great to put this package to the test and see where it stacked up.
The 2018 Fox 360 jersey uses a moisture-wicking fabric on the main body and a mesh back, shoulder and side panels for breathability. This combination has been designed to pull perspiration off your skin and to channel refreshing air through the jersey.
Having ridden in warm and muggy conditions in this gear, it was nice to see that this design worked well and the air-flow throughout did its job. There’s nothing worse than cooking in your own gear on those warm days at the track and with the 360 jersey you don’t have to worry about that.
With an athletic fit collar, minimal athletic precision fit cuffs and a drop-tail rear design, the 2018 Fox 360 jersey is also super-comfortable. I’m a fan of a more athletic fit these days and this jersey features a nice mixture between a traditional jersey and a more athletic-fitting product.
Overall the 2018 Fox 360 jersey is a great product and it really does tick all of the boxes. In saying that though, we were expecting this to be the case with so much history and testing behind this line of racewear – it’s hard to find a more recognisable range of gear than the 360 line from Fox.
In the pant department we saw much of the same when it comes to fit and performance. Constructed using Fox’s TruMotion four-way stretch fabric, the 2018 360 pant offers great range of motion and feels comfortable on-track. At the same time the 360 pant is built tough using 600D polyester to protect high abrasion areas. This strategic placement of fabric allows for a great combination of mobility and durability.
Using the Rider Attack Position (RAP) construction, the 2018 Fox 360 pant also features a precise fit and arrives in the ideal position for on-the-bike action. The pant’s sizing is right on the money and overall comfort is premium thanks to features such as the thin hem at the cuff to eliminate any added bulk inside your boots.
We’ve also thrown our hands in a set of Pawtector gloves in the matching purple colour. I’m not the biggest dual-layer palm fan, but I must admit these gloves might just be an exception. Using strategically-placed Clarino on the palm, strength and perforations have been added to create quite a comfortable glove overall. With stretch mesh finger gussets, ventilation has also been increased and dexterity is improved at the same time.
Overall the 2018 Fox Pawtector glove is a solid package and not only performs well, but it looks the part too. The direct injected TPR knuckle protection features a neat design and it’s definitely one of the coolest looking gloves on the market today. Topped off with a hook and loop closure for a secure fit, you’ve got yourself a solid set of gloves in the Pawtector.
If you’re looking for a high-end set of motocross gear, you’ll definitely be happy with the 2018 Fox 360 option. It’s just a solid bit of kit that performs in all areas and it looks great on-track. The unique purple colour option and the bold Preme design is a huge winner in my books and there’s even more colours on offer if you check out the entire range.
Coming in at a recommended retail price of $79.95 for the jersey and $269.95 for the pant, the entire 2018 Fox 360 range is now available nationwide at your local Fox dealer. For more information on the entire 2018 Fox range, head to www.foxhead.com/au.
