Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has taken consecutive wins in the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship with a controlled ride to victory in Glendale, Arizona.

Tomac led all 23 laps of the 450SX main event to take the chequered flag 2.127s ahead of Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Knich Yamaha), with Ken Roczen (Team Honda HRC) completing the podium in third.

The result sees Tomac climb to 10th in the championship standings after crashing out of Anaheim 1 and missing Houston with a shoulder injury, now 26 points in arrears of continued leader Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna), who was fourth tonight and nine ahead of Barcia in P2.

Glendale marked the return to form of opening round winner Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM), finishing fifth as he also continues to recover from a shoulder injury, now ninth in the standings, one point ahead of Tomac.

It was another challenging night for Australia’s Chad Reed (Team CR22 Husqvarna), transferring through the last chance qualifier and riding to 19th in the final.

The 250SX West final was a good one, as Aaron Plessinger (Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha) won his second round of the season to take charge of the points lead once again, topping Shane McElrath (Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM) by 3.772s, with Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) third.

It was Joey Savatgy (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) who led the opening lap before McElrath took over at the front, only to be hunted down by Plessinger on lap seven of the 17 completed. Further back, Hayden Mellross (51Fifty Energy Drink Yamaha) finished in 14th position.

Next Saturday, 3 February, the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship will travel north to Oakland, California, for the fifth round of the season.
