Multi-time Australian supercross champion Dan Reardon says that the increased international talent that will be brought in for this weekend’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open could play for and against the top group of riders vying for the 2017 Australian Supercross Championship.

Reardon has endured a mixed season so far, landing on the podium at the opening round before posting a pair fifth place results at the previous two rounds.

The Mega Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki rider is adamant on using this weekend’s prestigious event to his advantage, as he endeavours to put himself back in title contention leaving Sydney’s double-header.

“It can definitely be in your favour, and it can definitely not be in your favour,” Reardon explained to MotoOnline.com.au. “It’s just one of those things – a smaller track, more riders, a lot more talent – it can definitely swing your way. That’s something we’re looking to do this weekend.

“It’s been a bus ride of a season so far, but I wouldn’t say we’re looking for a turnaround. We’re looking for a track that’s half decent and conditions that are half decent. The AUS-X Open never disappoints, it’s by the far the favourite on everyone’s calendar, so the feeling for me and everyone else I imagine would be the same.”

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing duo Jason Anderson and Dean Wilson, plus Geico Honda’s RJ Hampshire are amongst the internationals that could play a pivotal role in how the domestic championship pans out.

The popular Queenslander currently sits fourth in the championship standings, 23 points shy of SX1 leader Justin Brayton (Penrite Honda Racing).
