Dyson Motorsports’ Dylan Wills charged to an impressive third place finish on Saturday night at Virginia’s third round of the Australian Supercross Championship in South Australia, which comes as a great reward for the New South Welshman.

Wills was evidently fast and comfortable on the circuit, setting the second fastest time in qualifying before winning his heat race, and ultimately challenging inside the top three to land on the box in the main event.

“I’ve had a fairly solid couple of weeks and I think that’s been the difference,” Wills explained to MotoOnline.com.au. “I’ve ridden a few different tracks and really tried to work on my weaknesses. It feels good, I was top three all day today and it’s awesome – it’s something I’ve never been able to do. I was close to front and it’s definitely a good feeling.

“I just felt comfy from the get-go, I spoke with Kenny [Wheeler] from Factory Spec after the practice session and we made a couple of changes, and we got quicker and quicker as the night went on. That’s all I put it down to – my setup, working on my weaknesses and figuring the tracks out a bit quicker.”

The result places Wills fourth in the championship standings, just seven points shy of the top three as the series heads to Sydney for the Monster Energy AUS-X Open on 11-12 November, marking rounds four and five on the calendar.
