Experienced front-runner to debut on YZ450F at Monster Energy Cup.
Yamaha has confirmed Davi Millsaps will join Cooper Webb in its factory supercross and motocross team for the 2018 season, set to debut at the Monster Energy Cup this month.
Millsaps has been linked to the team for much of the silly season as replacement of Chad Reed, now confirmed to be contesting Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross.
“First of all, I’m super-excited to be racing for the Yamaha Factory team,” Millsaps said. “And to be making my Yamaha debut aboard the 2018 YZ450F is going to be awesome. I’ve been doing a lot of testing on the new bike, and it’s coming along great – I couldn’t be happier.”
As was previously announced, Webb will not compete in the Monster Energy Cup due to the surgery he had last week on his right thumb, which he injured in practice at the MXGP of the USA in Florida earlier this month.
The announcement casts doubt over Australian champion Dean Ferris’ links to the official team for Pro Motocross next season, hinting that any potential deal was appearing uncertain when the Motocross of Nations (MXoN) wrapped up on Sunday. It’s remains unclear if he has alternate Yamaha-based options in the US.
