Dunlop named official tyre partner for third-consecutive year.
The Monster Energy AUS-X Open and Dunlop have revealed they will offer a $600 incentive for privateers to enter the 2017 event, which is scheduled for 11-12 November at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena.
In an effort to support the growth of supercross, the AUS-X Open has agreed to wave all entry fees for both Saturday and Sunday’s events for SX1 class privateer racers only, saving them $400.
Additionally, tyre manufacturer Dunlop will return as the event’s official tyre partner for the third-consecutive year, and in turn have agreed to provide a new set of tyres, with a retail value of over $200, free of charge for the privateer SX1 racers who enter and race at this year’s AUS-X Open event, assisting them with their season campaign.
AUS-X Open director Adam Bailey spoke of the newly announced initiative, expressing his understanding of the tough financial experiences of racing at an elite level can have on privateers.
“We recognise that racing at the top level can be expensive for up and coming riders who aren’t yet supported by a factory team and wanted to lend a hand,” said Bailey. “We’re stoked to partner with Dunlop again, who have been with us since day one and really appreciate them jumping on board to support this initiative and the up and coming riders, who need it most.
“As the event draws closer, we’re getting extremely excited with further announcements to come, including international riders. We’re confident this year’s Monster Energy AUS-X Open will see the most competitive field of Supercross racers, ever to compete on Australian shores.”
The third edition has attracted the likes of Aussie fan-favourite Chad Reed, motocross and supercross legend Ricky Carmichael, plus popular AMA front-runners Jason Anderson and Josh Grant amongst Australia’s local talents. The country’s very own FMX legend Robbie Maddison will also make the trip home to attend the event.
The 2017 AUS-X Open has so far partnered with Monster Energy, Destination NSW, It’s on in Sydney, Ladbrokes, Shannons Insurance, Boost Mobile, X-Drive, Thor MX Australia, Komatsu, Knobby, Yamaha Motor Australia, KTM Australia, Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia and Dunlop.
