Internationally recognised track builder Jason Baker of Dream Traxx will assist in the development of the 2017 Monster Energy AUS-X Open that will be hosted by Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 11-12 November.

Baker’s role within the AUS-X Open team is to assist with the design and build of fresh and innovative obstacles and ideas, which will see approximately 5000 tonnes of dirt and material brought in to cover the 4000m2 floor space with the help of Komatsu Australia.

The circuit is slated to retain its unique traits that are different to any other current supercross event in the world, including the use of steel freestyle motocross (FMX) competition ramps and a custom made tunnel.

Event co-founder and director Adam Bailey spoke of Baker’s enlistment, stating he’s confident that the American’s assistance will provide a layout that will serve up closer racing than what we’ve previously seen.

“We’re really proud of some of the innovations we’ve been able to bring to the competition surface already thanks to our track crew,” said Bailey. “The purpose of using freestyle ramps as a means to shoot riders higher into the air than ever before and building a tunnel that races through the venues storage rooms and past the kitchen are all means to make the show as exciting and dynamic as possible.

“We’re confident that by adding some of Jason’s fresh ideas to the mix, the racing will be even closer and more incredible to watch than ever. Moving and shaping upwards of 5000 tonne of dirt overnight into Qudos Bank Arena and then out again is no mean feat. We’re incredibly appreciative of our crew and the support of Komatsu, to give us the best heavy machinery for the job.”

The third edition has attracted fan-favourites such as Chad Reed, motocross and supercross legend Ricky Carmichael, plus popular AMA front-runners Jason Anderson and Josh Grant amongst Australia’s local talents. The country’s very own FMX legend Robbie Maddison will also make the trip home to attend the event.

This year’s instalment will also see one million dollars up for grabs to any fan who purchases tickets to both days of the event on 11-12 November, in one of the richest prizes ever offered to Australian sports attendees.

The 2017 AUS-X Open has so far partnered with Monster Energy, Destination NSW, It’s on in Sydney, Ladbrokes, Shannons Insurance, Boost Mobile, X-Drive, Thor MX Australia, Komatsu, Knobby, Yamaha Motor Australia, KTM Australia and Husqvarna Motorcycles Australia.
