Penrite CRF Honda Racing’s Kyle Webster capped off the 2017 Motul MX Nationals series with a stellar podium finish at Coolum’s finale last weekend.

Webster, who’s been a consistent strong finisher in the series’ second half, set the pace with the fastest time in qualifying, then going onto lodge 2-3 results for third overall, tying on points with runner-up Wilson Todd (DPH Motorsport Yamaha).

His highly-impressive performance saw him secure fifth in the championship, his best season result in MX2 since graduating to the class in 2015.

“Overall Coolum was a really great finish to the championship for me,” Webster commented. “Getting P1 in qualifying was a great start to the day, and then in the first moto I got a good start and was running around fifth, but then managed to work my way up to second and even started to catch up to Egan [Mastin], but ran out of tear-offs near the end.

“I knew I had good speed at Coolum and was feeling strong for the final race of the year, but then in race two I got a shocking start and had to do so much work to come through, so to get up to third by the chequered flag and get another podium placing, as well as third overall for the round, was a good result.

“It’s been a huge season in the MX Nationals this year with so many fast riders in MX2, I’m stoked to finish the championship with a good result at the final round in Coolum.”

The Western Australian talent will now set his focus to the 2017 Australian Supercross Championship, where he’ll be looking to pick up from his podium at Sydney’s AUS-X Open finale last year.
