Current EMX250 contender to graduate to MX2 for 2018.
Kemea Yamaha has announced the signing of youthful talent Jago Geerts to a two-year deal will see him contest the 2018 and 2019 seasons of the MX2 World Championship.
The 17-year-old already has a junior world championship and two European motocross championships to his name, making him one of the most exciting European prospects to be graduating to the world championship as he currently sits fourth in the EMX250 standings.
Geerts explained he’ll be juggling schooling and racing in 2018, which will mark his final year, before being 100 percent focused on racing for the 2019 season.
“Kemea Yamaha is a really good team and they are based pretty close to me too, which is good while I still have one more year left of school,” Geerts commented. “Next year I will be working with this team and gaining experience in MX2 while I finish my schooling and then in 2019 I should be ready to focus 100 percent on racing.
“I am really happy to have this opportunity and a contract for next year where I hope we will learn a lot and get some good results along the way.”
Geerts debut in the prestigious series won’t come until the opening round of the 2018 season, which is slated to take place in the early months of the new year.
