Holcombe and Watson victorious at EnduroGP of Greece
Australia's Phillips and Sanders race to top 10 results.
Steve Holcombe (Team Beta Factory Racing) and Nathan Watson (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) divided wins on both days of the Maxxis FIM EnduroGP World Championship in Grevena, Greece, last weekend, marking the fifth stop of the series.
On day one, Holocombe put in a flawless effort to claim his second individual day victory of the season, edging out Watson with a 12-second advantage.
Loic Larrieu (Outsiders Yamaha) concluded the podium in third, nine seconds behind Watson, while the top five was rounded out by Alex Salvini (Team Beta Factory Racing) and Christophe Nambotin (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). Australia’s Mathew Phillips (CH Racing Sherco) completed the day in seventh.
In the Enduro 2 class, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia soared to an 18-second victory ahead of Jamie McCanney (Outsiders Yamaha) and Davide Guarneri (Honda Red Moto World Enduro Team), who ended the day second and third respectively.
The top five was closed out by Pascal Rauchenecker (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) and Eero Remes (TM Racing Factory Team), while Australian favourite Daniel Sanders (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) finished in a solid ninth position.
Day two saw Watson trade positions with Holcombe to take a convincing victory ahead of the championship leader, as Larrieu once again completed the top three in third.
Salvini fell short of the podium for the second-consecutive day ahead of Jaume Betriu (KTM), while Phillips repeated his performance to finish seventh.
Just like the premier class, it was trade of positions in Enduro 2 as McCanney raced to victory, edging out Garcia for the top spot, who still controls the championship with a 12-point lead.
Guarneri negotiated his way to third for the second day running, with Remes and Rauchenecker rounding out the top five. Sanders matched his day one result of ninth in the challenging and hot conditions.
