Verdict:
It was yet another impressive performance by CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris, the defending MX1 champion is still yet to be beaten for the overall win this season. In challenging Horsham conditions, Ferris looked very comfortable and stretched out considerable leads in both motos to extend his series lead. Kirk Gibbs again was unable to top the Yamaha contender, with average starts in both motos it was a challenging day for the 2015 champion. Although Luke Styke, who claimed his first podium in multiple seasons, Todd Waters and Kade Mosig rounded out the top five behind Ferris and Gibbs, it was Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Luke Clout who was set to claim one of those spots before a mechanical issue saw him bow out of moto two. Clout was strong in moto one as he pressured Ferris at one point of the lead before bringing it home in second place. Again in moto two holding the runner-up spot, the MX1 rookie was set for a career-best overall position before disaster struck.

Verdict:
It was a vital round for DPH Motorsport Yamaha’s Wilson Todd in Horsham as he swept both motos to take the red plate back from Serco Yamaha’s Mitch Evans after losing the lead just round round ago in Conondale. Todd dominated the MX2 field in the tough conditions to return to the top of the championship ladder and place a nine-point buffer between himself and Evans who struggled throughout the day. With just a fifth-place overall finish, it was a contrasting round for Evans who came into the event off the back of two-straight 1-1 victories. Hamish Harwood was impressive aboard his Davey Motorsports KTM, claiming the runner-up spot on the day, the Kiwi rider looked very comfortable on the sloppy Victorian circuit. Kyle Webster from the Penrite CRF Honda Racing squad, much the same as Harwood, also looked strong in the conditions on hand as made his first podium appearance of the season alongside Harwood.
