Factory SD3 Husqvarna entry announces he's sitting this round out.
South Australian international Brett Metcalfe has revealed he will skip this weekend’s Horsham round of the 2017 Motul MX Nationals.
Metcalfe was vague in his announcement via social media this afternoon and, as yet, there remains no official statement from the SD3 Husqvarna team.
“Unfortunately I won’t be competing this weekend due to circumstances that will be released in the coming week,” Metcalfe announced. “It’s important my fans know that I am looking forward to racing again. I want to thank my personal sponsors for their understanding and continued support. I will be at Horsham, round four of the MX Nationals this weekend. I look forward to meeting with fans, family and friends.”
It’s not certain whether Metcalfe intends to line-up for his home round of the championship next weekend at Murray Bridge and, if he doesn’t, it will come as a major blow for local onlookers who have long followed his illustrious career in the US, Europe and Canada.
SD3 Husqvarna took on factory status for this season, but has encountered a puzzling season so far, with longtime MX2 representative Luke Arbon leaving the team under dramatic circumstances prior to Appin’s second round. The team also fields Kaleb Barham in MXD.
