History set to go on display at round four of the Motul MX Nationals

Motul MX Nationals press release:

Fans will have yet another reason to ensure they’re trackside at Horsham for round four of the Motul MX Nationals this Sunday, with confirmation that Rosco Holden’s (of Holden On Tight) Motocross, Off-Road and Dakar Museum will be open to the public as well as a rare two only made motorcycle on display for only the second time in history.

The museum which houses a number of rare and precious pieces of motorcycling memorabilia is one of the many attractions at Horsham this weekend and the only of it’s kind in the country, which allows the sport’s enthusiasts to step back in time and take in the rich history of Australian Racing.

Creator of the museum Rosco Holden, today shared how the display came about and why encapsulating the sport’s history is something he’s so passionate about.

“The Museum has been created so that we can give everyone the opportunity to come and enjoy our proud dirt history and the preservation of our Australian Motocross, Enduro and Dakar Heritage and more,” Holden shared.

“After being involved in motorcycles nearly all my life and many years overseas, I have been very fortunate to have collected these pieces over a long period of time, so many past and even current riders have donated their individual signed pieces for the one of a kind Museum. These time legacy pieces have been preserved beautifully by documentation and most framed with their history – it’s about all of us doing our part in looking after and preserving our past.

“We have jerseys from racing legends, number plates, race bikes, helmets and more – the collection is growing and we’re very excited that those heading to round four of the Motul MX Nationals will be able to visit the museum and learn more about our sport’s history.”

As well as Rosco Holden opening the doors of the museum at Horsham on Saturday and Sunday, he has also shared that there will be 70 new pieces added to the collection ahead of this weekend, as well as one of the rarest motorcycles in the world set to be on display – a state of the art 1979 Honda Australia Mugen 390. To his knowledge there were only two of these incredible pieces of machinery ever made and the one at Horsham is the only one known to be left in existence.

“Probably the piece I’m most excited about is the 1979 Honda Mugen 390 as it has not been on public display for decades, and the other is the metre plus history of the iconic (Robinson and Teserario) RAT Clothing Motorycle Brand which we will have on display,” Holden said.

“Also in the restoration system, is Team Kawasaki Australia Trevor Williams’ one of only three in the World Works SR380 that he competed on in 1979 Mr Motocross Series. The bike has so much history and was also Jimmy Weirnert’s 1978 USA Supercross Bike.

“With Round 4 of the Motul MX Nationals already offering so much, we’re really excited for the second launch of our Museum at Horsham, and showing fans of the sport some of the history that brought us here.”

The fourth round of the Motul MX Nationals will be held at the Horsham Motocross Track on Sunday May 21.
