Team WBR Bulk Nutrients rider sets sights on regular top fives.
Consistent top five results are the goal for Team WBR Bulk Nutrients’ Aaron Tanti following a string of promising moto performances in the 2017 Motul MX Nationals MX2 series.
Making his way into the top five and battling with the series’ top contenders at Conondale’s third round, Tanti credits much of his recent form to a revised program for the 2017.
“I’ve got a good program going,” Tanti told MotoOnline.com.au. “I’ve got a new trainer for this year and I’m also only working two days a week this year after finishing my trade which is helping in terms of riding the bike.”
“It’s just the confidence side of things, like at round one I had two crashes and the result wasn’t that good, but in moto one I was running up front and I saw that I could run that pace.
“Coming into Conondale I was just feeling really confident, especially since I had some of my best races in the Under 19s at that track, so I knew I was going to be good there.”
After suffering a flat tyre while leading moto two in Conondale, the 20-year-old hopes to have put the bad luck behind him as he prepares for Horsham’s fourth round of the 10-round series this weekend.
“Getting into the lead on the first lap, I was ready to go, I wanted to be on that podium so bad,” he added. “I know I can run with those guys, I know I can do it now, mentally I’m so much stronger than last year, I’m fitter and I have a good team backing me.
“I’m looking to run in that top five for the rest of the season and although I haven’t had a bike malfunction as such, I’ve had a flat tyre and a bent disc, so if we can stay away from that stuff and keep getting consistent results, I should find myself in the top five most races, that’s my goal.”
Tanti currently sits 10th overall in the 2017 Motul MX Nationals MX2 points standings, 60 points behind new series leader Mitch Evans of the Serco Yamaha team.
